Finally the much speculated Live 2 RockCity Concert (2nd round) – scheduled at Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) on November 14, 2014 has been postponed for uncertain period, the tickets will be refunded, and they sought apology for the incident, reads an announcement from the event organizer on their official facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/RockIncCentral. It is a historical victory for ATMA, PROGGA and the tobacco control community in Bangladesh.
Basically the concert was a cover for promotion of a multinational tobacco company – Philip Morris International (PMI) and it s brand Marlboro. In the concert there were tiny stalls selling cigarette packets where the shopkeepers were attractive young ladies, and every packet of Marlboro was accompanied with a striking lighter printed with PMI logo.
A couple of days back, the first round of the Live 2 RockCity Concert was held in All Community Club in Gulshan circle 2 that was highlighted on media that was identified by the Tobacco Industry Watch team of PROGGA, and this is the final outcome to save thousands of youth from the clutch of tobacco and tobacco industry.
